Giving and Donations

General Offering:

This is the primary offering of the church that is used to fund the various ministries of the church, fund budgeted missions organizations, fund staff salaries and benefits, pay building utility costs, pay for routine building upkeep and repair costs, and fund all other items addressed in the church budget approved each year by the church body.

Building Fund:

This offering is put into a savings account that can be used for building upkeep and repair items when supplemental income beyond the General Offering is warranted. The Building Fund can also be used for new construction, or renovation as approved by the church body.

Capital Improvement Fund:

This offering is put into a savings account that can be used for new construction, or major facilities renovation as approved by the church body.

Local Missions Offering:

This offering is usually received in the spring and is evenly divided between the following local missions: Operation Rebirth, a boy’s home and school located on a small farm near St. Paris, Ohio; The Sycamore House, a pregnancy resource center located in Urbana; The Champaign County chapter of Habitat for Humanity, a group that helps to provide housing for low income people; and The Caring Kitchen, a homeless shelter, food pantry, and resource center located in Urbana.

The One Great Hour of Sharing Offering:

This offering is usually received during the month of June, or July. This offering is used to help meet emergency and relief type efforts within the United States and in other countries. Things such as relief efforts for natural disasters, immunization efforts, and provision of fresh drinking water are addressed by this offering.

The World Mission Offering:

This offering is usually received during the month of October. It is administered by International Ministries to help fund missionary related expenses for all the missionaries sent out to other countries.

Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering:

This offering is usually received during the month of December. It is administered by the Ministers and Missionaries Benefit Board to provide an annual “thank you check” to retired ministers and missionaries. This fund is also used to give emergency type financial assistance to retired ministers, missionaries, and their spouses.

Other

_______________________ This line item can be used to designate money for a specific item in the budget of the church, or for other special offerings that may be approved by the church such as: Youth Mission Trip; Special speaker, or group love offering; or similar special offerings/projects. The person using this line item should type in the specific budget item, special offering, or project for which they wish to give.

We hold the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as God’s infallible and inerrant written revelation of His Word; uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit; and the final written authority in all matters in which it speaks.
